English topic Best hiking trails Hi, I will be driving form Zilina through Liptovski Mikulas to Smokovec on sunday. I looking for a nice trail, where I can spend great sunday. Could you recommend me any which is open during this season, not too crowded, and of course near my way to Smokoviec. Then I will spend in Smokviec next week. Could you recommend anything which is near Smokoviec, not in High Tatras, which are almost all closed ? I think the most appropriate site is Podlesok. It is the trailhead of the Suchá Belá Gorge and more-or-less of the Prielom Hornádu Gorge too. I think you could also find somebody to lift you to Píla what is the trailhead of the Piecky and Veľký Sokol Gorges.

Thanks a lot for your help. I'm quite sure that I will make a trip to Prosiecka a Kvačianska dolina this sunday. It looks like a great warm-up hike :) I will plan rest of my trip later, bu I'm sure that I will use your advices.

I agree with Prosiecka and Kvacianska valleys (about 5-6 hours circle route), unless you want something as demanding as High Tatras. I would prefer this easy route for the first day, as there should be no snow at all this time of a year. Good luck!

For nice Sunday trip you can try a walk through Kvacianska and Prosiecka dolina, its very picturesque and there are very little tourists this time off the year.

The main red route which stretches underneath the whole mountain range is open provided it is not covered in snow and so are all the paths that are in the lower parts of the mountain range. Apart from that, all paths to chalets and refuges are open apart from the one that goes to Chata pod Rysmi. If you intend to go there be prepared for high alpine terrain covered with snow/ice.
